This is full of cassis and cherry with the classic earthy and dusty violet notes found in classic Italian wines. A solid entry-level Barbera from Iuli, a self-proclaimed "barberista", this wine is named after his good friend, Umberta. Although not labelled DOCG, this wine is from the Montalcino region, though he is the only winemaker in his small town of Montaldo. He prefers to label it simply "Vino Rosso" to allow himself more freedom in his winemaking. Aged in concrete for 10-11 months, with an additional 3 months of bottle aging.
