A light-bodied red with cherry and toasted almond on the nose followed by delicate unripe strawberry, wild raspberry, and wet stone on the palate. 5 month's maturation on fine lees in large oak barrels. Picked from old vines that are pergola-trained and grow in sandy clay soils rich in calcium carbonate on southern facing slopes. The estate's historical buildings date from 1608, built by Heironymus Manincor. The emperor had endowed him with the land for his services to Austria and raised him to the ranks of nobility. The coat-of-arms extended to accommodate his new status, "Man-in-cor" means roughly "hand on hart" and can still be seen on the facade of the manor house. The ancient family still remains tied to the winery.
